The sounds of people shouting and tools being used fills the air as they near land. Marwin wipes the sweat from his forehead and sits up in the boat, he looks to shore and sees the great harbor of Ironford, the richest city in Westgard. Nestled high in the bluffs is the great keep, and down below past the cliffs lies the city itself. Tigs rows them into a dock, he ties a rope to a post and stands up. He reaches his hand out to Marwin. Marwin learns in and reaches out with his stump. But then he remembers and reaches out with his good hand and he pulls him from the boat. The afternoon sun beats down on their heads. "Maybe we should find somewhere to clean you up before meeting the king, unless you want to head straight there to give him the news." Tigs says

"Lord?" he says and snorts, "You're a dirty cripple, get out of here with you rabble." he says shooing him off "I'm straight from the fight at larwick, I truly insist you let me in, or call on someone who would recognize me a bit better than a peasant." "You were-you were at Larwick? My cousin was at Larwick, we haven't heard from him.. I apologize my lord, you can pass." he and his partner move their polearms and open the way up the steps. Tigs and Hanne make it to the great keep and they walk in through the great metal doors. At the end of the long hall, King Sunderly sits atop a gilded throne, his blonde locks resting on his shoulders. He strokes his groomed beard as he listens to a peasant, who is sobbing at his feet. "Very well, friend. For your sons' service and sacrifices, you shall be given enough food to last you a month, which should be sufficent time for you to grieve their losses and find new help for your farm. Just know this friend.." he stands up from his thrones and helps him to his feet. He puts a hand on the peasants' shoulder, "Their sacrifices were not in vain. They were brave young men and they will be honored. They are smiling on you, along with your ancestors." he says with a somber smile. The peasant wipes away his tears and nods, "Thank you, your grace." he mumbles and flees the hall. The king looks up at Hanne, "I'm sorry friend, I thought I told the guards that he was the last one, I'm very busy today, perhaps you can come back on the morrow?"

King Sunderly puts a hand up to hush him, "Lord Marwin Hanne of Mercia? You've just missed Lord Paramount Yarwyck. I heard what happened in Larwick... I am truly sorry." he rubs the bridge of his nose, "I was told you had died along with Lord Reyne. How is it you are standing before me?"

Only a fifth of them evaded death during the battle, but what was left of them managed to disguise as guards and break me out."

What happened at the siege... and after?"

I do understand that some managed to make it back to the boats."

He looks to his steward, "Make sure that Lord Hanne is treated, fed and dressed properly. Show him to one of the guest quarters. When you are better Lord Hanne, I will brief you on what's happening now."

For the rest of the day, Marwin finally washes the battle off of him, gets some nice, fitting clothes on, and gets his hand examined by the doctor. He is given a potion to soothe the pain, and the dead flesh is cut away and stitched up. He wraps the wrist in a tight bandage. As marwin prepares to sleep, he looks in the mirror in his temporary quarters. Before him is a man he didn't recognize, he is significantly skinnier than he once was, and a bushy beard covers his face. Light burn marks paint his forehead from the inital blast. His hair is scraggly and a bit too long for his liking. He reminds himself of an old beggar. He finally decides to lay down and fall asleep. The next morning he is awoken by Tigs. "The king requests your presence in the war room, sir."
