About 2 weeks later The mid day sun shines brightly on Marwin's forehead. "LAND AHEAD!!" the lookout screams, "PREPARE TO DROP ANCHOR!" From the front of the ship, Marwin can see the walls of Larwick, it's not a large city, but it's large enough to have a sizeable garrison. Just as Yarwyck said, the side closest to Stormden isn't as defended as the opposite side. Outside the city he can see farmers and merchants, fleeing into the city, or away from it. A lone guard walks along the southern wall of Larwick, and as he sees the mass of ships heading inland, he nearly drops his crossbow. He runs to a tower and Marwin can hear the sound of a bell ringing. Lord Sargen's ships begin to deviate and head for the opening of the river in order to block it off and blockade the city. Lord Reyne's ships are the first to land. As soon as the first ship anchors, troops begin pouring out, banners emblazoned with the gray bear of house Reyne flutter in the wind. The next couple ships land and more soldiers hop off into the sand. They group up on the coast and Marwin can see Lord Reyne surveying the land, possibly searching for a place to set up the command tent. The gate of Larwick is shut with a metallic slam that Marwin can hear from his ship. By the time Marwin finally lands, Reyne's men have already began digging trenches and razing farmlands for food. Marwin steps off the ship with Thorin and Merrick at his side, with a standard bearer, holding the eagle banner of House Hanne, following closely behind. He can see that some troops have begun putting up tents and lookout posts. The command tent is roughly up, and Lord Reyne is standing outside of it, as Marwin nears he can hear him telling a soldier, "A bit more to the left.... now to the right... too far, back to the left... a bit mor- PERFECT!" and the soldier sets down the post. He turns to Marwin and laughs, "How was your voyage friend?"

In case you can't tell that is a portcullis, can't batter through that. I'll have the lads get to building siege towers and ladders as soon as we get the perimeter up. We may be here a while, I wouldn't get too excited right now friend."

Scout the perimeter of Larwick as long as you can, report any camps outside the wall or breaks in the wall! I expect something by nightfall, go!" He turns back Reyne. "How high do you recon the walls are?"

If the Redfort army gets here before we do, we are in a fairly defensible location. I'm not worried as of yet."

The guys back west could likely use a victory here soon as possible. We best not dilley dally."

Their garrison isn't too large, we outnumber them 5 to 1, however it's a defensible location and I anticipate heavy losses, on both sides."

By the time night falls, they get a large camp set up, complete with trenches, an outlined perimeter, barricades and guard posts, as well as constant patrols. Marwin wipes the sweat off of his forehead as he finishes digging a trench. He hands a soldier a shovel and walks back to his tent, inside Thorin sits on a chair. He stands up at attention as says, "My lord."

"I sent my best scout to ride out to Stormden, and somethings going on inside the city, but he's yet to see any armies, they've closed off the city. According to Lord Sargen the Caswell force is marching on Three Streams in the morning, Lord Collinner doesn't have the army to keep them at bay, so it will be an easy victory... or so he says." he looks down, "My apologies, I should keep my opinions to myself."

See if you can raise morale, teach the rest of the army a thing or two in the meantime. Your unit can store gear and sleep here in the command tent, I'm sure the other lords won't mind."

But I have an idea... if you'll hear it."

Jonas was a sort of a head engineer of the Black-Hands, "It's a crossbow, but instead of a regular bolt it fires a four pronged hook fastened to a rope. It may not work, but perhaps we can attempt a night raid tommorrow, send in the Black Hands and we can open the portcullis from within, maybe avoid as much bloodshed as possible."
